Meet Ilryong

Born into poverty in South Korea, Ilryong Moon immigrated to Virginia as a teenager and became the first in his family to graduate high school. After earning a degree from Harvard, he practiced small business law and raised two sons in the Braddock District, where he’s lived since 1987.

As the first Asian American elected to Fairfax County government, Ilryong has spent nearly 30 years on the School Board and Planning Commission. From improving teacher pay to expanding access to a high-quality education, he has helped make Fairfax County Public Schools among the nation’s best.

Now, Ilryong is running for Braddock District Supervisor to keep Fairfax County a great place to live, work, and raise a family.
